In the scrutiny, BCCI realised that they have received applications in the names of Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Virender Sehwag, Shah Rukh Khan, Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni and many more which BCCI identified as fake ones.
BCCI had opened up an application for head coach of the men's team for which hunt is still on. Fake applications are nothing new to BCCI. Last time also BCCI received several fake applications.
A BCCI source said that the organisation might opt for a different method next time around to reduce the hassle of going through fake applications.
"Since the application process is in the public domain, fans and many people can easily access the form, which is available in the website on BCCI. We may think of reducing all these things going forward we may come up with some new processes of inviting applications which will rule out fake applications," the source said.
