Resume, degree not needed: AI startup offers Rs 1 crore job
A Bengaluru startup is grabbing headlines with a bold hiring experiment: a Rs 1 crore-a-year tech job that skips CVs, college degrees, and long interview rounds. The post, shared by Sudarshan Kamath, founder of Smallest AI, is for a full-stack tech lead. And it’s unlike any other job listing out there.
The role promises a fixed salary of Rs 60 lakh along with Rs 40 lakh in company equity. It’s a full-time, five-day office role in Bengaluru with flexible hours. Unlike the usual checklist of qualifications and interviews, this role simply asks for: A 100-word introduction and links to your best work. “College – Does not matter. Resume – Not needed,” Kamath wrote in the viral post on X.
As per the viral post, the ideal candidate should have 4-5 years of hands-on experience. Know Next.js, Python, and React.js. Also, have experience scaling systems from 0 to 100. “You need to be a hands-on developer. This is not a ‘managerial’ position,” Kamath clarified.
With World Youth Skills Day (July 15) around the corner, this hiring trend shows how Indian startups are shifting focus from degrees to actual skills. It's a refreshing change -- especially for young tech professionals who’ve built their portfolios outside the traditional system.
This isn’t the company's first bold move. Earlier this year, Smallest AI posted another informal job offer -- Rs 40 lakh for junior devs, again without any resume requirement. This signals a growing push among startups to value skill over paper and streamline hiring.
