Mohan Bhagwat’s swadeshi call amid US tariffs
RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said that adopting swadeshi goods and embracing self-reliance are the only ways forward.

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat today addressed the Nagpur headquarters at Reshimbagh grounds on the Sangh’s 100th anniversary and pitched for self-reliance. He said that adopting swadeshi goods and embracing self-reliance are the only ways forward. “In an interconnected world, India's dependence on trading partners should not turn into helplessness, and the country must focus on indigenous production.”
“America has adopted a new tariff policy. Of course, it serves its own interests, but its effects are being felt by everyone. No nation can survive in isolation," he said, and emphasised the importance of building strength from within and highlighted that political, economic, and diplomatic relations should be pursued out of choice and willingness rather than compulsion.
Mohan Bhagwat also raised concern over the violent protests in the neighbouring countries, including Nepal. “The regime change in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and more recently, Nepal due to violent outbursts of public anger is a concern for us. The forces wanting to create such disturbances in Bharat are active inside as well as outside our country," he said.
Earlier in the morning, Bhagwat performed ‘Shastra Puja’ on the occasion of the organisation’s Vijayadashmi Utsav in Nagpur.
Bhagwat also paid tribute to the founder of the organisation, KB Hedgewar, at the RSS Vijaydashmi Utsav event. The organisation has completed 100 years since its establishment, which dates back to 1925. Former President Ram Nath Kovind, who was the chief guest at the function, was also present during the tribute.
