Amitabh Bachchan's statue listed as tourist spot on Google Maps

A life-size statue of Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan, installed by Indian-American businessman Gopi Seth outside his New Jersey home, has now been recognised as a tourist attraction on Google Maps.

Located in Edison, about 35 kilometres south of Manhattan, the statue has drawn significant attention since its installation in August 2022, a news agency reported.

Gopi Seth, a devoted fan of Amitabh Bachchan, shared the news on X, with a video of the statue. "The statue of my idol, Shri Amitabh Bachchan has become a popular tourist attraction in New Jersey. It's my way of paying tribute to the legendary actor," the caption of his post reads.

Since its unveiling, the statue has attracted fans of the iconic actor. Seth said that his residence has transformed into a bustling hub for visitors, with a steady storm of 20 to 25 cars arriving daily.

Visitors often leave greeting cards and letters at the statue, expressing their admiration for the actor. "Our home has become one of the most popular tourist attractions, thanks to the Amitabh Bachchan statue," he said.

This unique tribute by Gopi Seth has not only honoured Amitabh Bachchan but has also created a new cultural landmark in New Jersey.
