Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia lose, Atishi wins

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is on the way to victory in Delhi as counting of votes is underway for the Assembly election to decide the next government of the national capital. BJP has crossed the majority mark, AAP is pacing to catch up, while Congress is far behind, according to Election Commission (EC) data.

Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia lost their New Delhi and Jangpura seats respectively to BJP candidates. Atishi won Kalkaji seat.

But when the counting of votes began on Saturday, Arvind Kejriwal, Atishi, and Manish Sisodia were trailing in very early leads for Delhi. The AAP convener is contesting from the New Delhi seat against Parvesh Verma while the CM is contesting from the Kalkaji seat against Ramesh Bidhuri. Sisodia is fielded against Tarvinder Singh Marwah from the Jangpura seat.

Delhi, which has 70 assembly seats, voted in a single phase on Wednesday. The national capital recorded a voter turnout of 60.54 percent, according to the Election Commission.
