“They hit me on my back and lower abdomen, and I could not breathe,” Robi was quoted as saying by Sportstar when the security personnel rushed him to a nearby hospital for treatment. However, the police at the iconic venue denied such allegations. “One of our officers found him gasping for breath near the C block entrance, and he was struggling to speak. It seems like a case of dehydration, but we will wait for the doctors’ advice,” a police source said.
Sharing a video on social media, a news agency wrote: "Bangladesh cricket team's 'super fan' Tiger Robi was allegedly beaten up by some people. During the first day’s play of the ongoing second India-Bangladesh Test, Robi--dressed in a tiger costume--was seen waving the Bangladesh flag at Green Park Stadium and chanting slogans from the C-block balcony. But after a while, he allegedly got into a confrontation with some local fans before the security personnel took things under control.
During an interaction with the media, Robi indicated that he had been punched in his abdomen during an altercation. But the local police officials have said that they will verify the official CCTV footage and look into his allegations.
