BCCI Guidelines Effect: Only A Bus Arranged For Team India In Kolkata

Ahead of the T20I series opener between India and England at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has reportedly begun enforcing the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) 10-point mandate as the team begins their training at the venue.

The CAB President, Snehashish Ganguly, had confirmed that the arrangements made were in adherence to the BCCI’s latest policies. “In keeping with the BCCI’s 10-point guidelines for players, the CAB has not arranged any separate means of conveyance," Snehasish said.

“Only a team bus has been arranged for the Indian team. There won’t be any personal vehicles for the cricketers. We have to follow the guidelines, which clearly state that all players are expected to travel with the team to and from matches and practice sessions," he added.

As per the BCCI’s SOP, “all players are required to stay for the entire duration of scheduled practice sessions and travel together to and from the venue. This rule ensures commitment and fosters a strong work ethic within the team."

The new regulations were implemented when the team arrived at Eden Gardens in the designated team bus. This is a change from the past, where several players would arrive separately. Head Coach Gautam Gambhir was the first to come out, followed by the support staff and the players, which include the skipper Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya.

The Indian team will be back in action for their first white-ball series in 2025, where they take on England in a five-match T20I and three-match ODI series, respectively, with the first T20I to be played on January 22nd. The upcoming games will serve as preparations for the Indian team members that have received the call-up for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025, where Rohit Sharma and Co. will be keen on returning to winning ways.
