Canada Election: PM Modi Greets Mark Carney

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his heartfelt congratulations to Mark Carney, leader of the Liberal Party, on his election as the new Prime Minister of Canada. In his message, Modi conveyed his best wishes for Carney's successful tenure and expressed optimism for strengthening the long-standing ties between India and Canada.

The Indian government also noted the electoral defeat of Jagmeet Singh, the former leader of the New Democratic Party, whose support for pro-Khalistani elements had often strained diplomatic relations. His exit from Canadian political leadership is being seen in New Delhi as a welcome development, signaling an opportunity for a more balanced and cooperative dialogue between the two nations.

India has consistently raised concerns over the activities of extremist groups operating abroad that promote separatist agendas and threaten India's unity and sovereignty.
