Gold chain of BJP leader snatched in Jaipur

A bike-borne assailant snatched the gold chain of BJP leader Rajul Tapadia, who was riding her scooter, and fled the spot in Jaipur on Thursday. Tapadia, a Mahila Morcha leader, said the value of the chain, which had a diamond pendant, was around Rs 2.5 lakh.

In a CCTV footage of the incident, the assailant, with his head covered with a helmet, is seen following Rajul's scooter from behind for some distance. Moments later, the assailant overtakes Rajul and snatches her chain and flees the scene. During the chain-snatching, Rajul fell on the road.

Some passers-by assisted Rajul in getting up. Few others tried to chase down the chain-snatcher, but the accused managed to escape. Tapadia sustained minor injuries to her face and foot. Rajul's husband, Mahendra Tapadia, filed a complaint and the police were investigating the matter.
