Fugitive Indian businessmen Lalit Modi and Vijay Mallya were spotted together on day 2 of the India vs England 5th Test at The Oval in London on Friday.
Photos and videos of them watching the match were widely shared on social media as their appearance surprised many.
Lalit Modi, former Indian Premier League (IPL) commissioner, shared photos of himself with Mallya and others at the stadium. West Indies batsman Chris Gayle, Farokh Engineer, and others also featured in the images shared by Lalit Modi. “Enjoying the day at the oval with my friends @thevijaymallya, Rima, Farouk Engineer, and Rod Bransgrove," he captioned the Instagram reel.
In the post with the photos of Vijay Mallya, he wrote, “At the oval with @TheVijayMallya #universeboss #chrisgayle." One detail that caught the netizens’ attention was Lalit Modi’s tie, which had the IPL logo on its tip.
Last month, Lalit Modi hosted an annual summer party in London with his 310 friends and family, and one of the attendees was Mallya. The highlight of the celebrations was Modi and Mallya singing ‘I Did It My Way’ by Frank Sinatra on karaoke.

He left India in 2010 while under investigation for alleged financial misconduct, including unauthorised fund transfers.
While Mallya is an accused in a bank loan default case of over Rs 9,000 crore from an SBI-led consortium, involving his defunct Kingfisher Airlines. Mallya left for the UK in 2016 and was declared a fugitive in 2019. He has been living in the UK since then.
