Gautam Gambhir receives threat mail from 'ISIS'
Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir has received a death threat via email, with the subject line reading "ISIS" (Islamic State).

Former India cricketer and currently Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir has received a death threat via email, with the subject line reading "ISIS" (Islamic State). The email contained just three chilling words: "I kill you."
Following the threat, Gambhir filed a complaint at the Rajendra Nagar police station, prompting authorities to launch an investigation. Although no formal case has been registered yet, the cyber cell is actively working to trace the origin of the email and identify the sender.
"We have been informed about an alleged threat mail received on an email ID associated with Gautam Gambhir. The matter is being investigated. He is already a Delhi Police protectee, and we do not comment on specific security arrangements," said Delhi Police in a statement.
The threat comes just two days after the terror attack on tourists in Jammu & Kashmir's Pahalgam, which took the lives of 26 people. Gambhir, in the past, has openly voiced his opinion against terrorism. Back in 2021, the former cricketer also got a similar threat from ISIS Kashmir.
On Tuesday, Gambhir also took to X (formerly Twitter) to condemn the terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam. "Praying for the families of the deceased. Those responsible for this will pay. India will strike," Gambhir posted.
Gambhir recently returned from a family holiday in France and has been back in the country since earlier this month. On Tuesday, he visited Khatu Shyamji and Rani Sati temple in Rajasthan. He has largely stayed out of the spotlight following India's Champions Trophy title win in March. With the Indian Premier League 2025 currently underway, national team head coaches typically get time off during the tournament. Gambhir, who took over as Team India's head coach in July last year, succeeded World Cup-winning coach Rahul Dravid.
