Gyandev Ahuja links Wayanad tragedy to ‘cow slaughter’

Rajasthan senior BJP leader Gyandev Ahuja on Saturday linked the Wayanad landslides to cow slaughter practices in Kerala. The former MLA claimed that such incidents will continue to occur wherever cow slaughter happens.

On July 30, multiple landslides hit villages in Wayanad, including Mundakai, Churalamala, and Meppadi. The death toll in Kerala's Wayanad landslides reached 358 on Saturday as rescuers raced against time and used deep search radars in a bid to search for survivors trapped under the debris and in collapsed houses, according to the latest update by the state government.

Speaking with the media, Ahuja asserted that the landslides in Wayanad are a direct consequence of cow slaughter, warning that similar tragedies will persist unless the practice is stopped in Kerala. He stated that while natural calamities like cloudbursts and landslides occur frequently in regions such as Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, they do not result in disasters of this magnitude.

"Since 2018, we have observed a pattern where areas involved in cow slaughter face such tragic incidents," Ahuja stated. "If cow slaughter does not stop, similar tragedies will continue to occur in Kerala."
