Resuming Day 5 at 26/2, Bangladesh got bundled out for 146, giving a target of just 95 runs to India. For India, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah scalped three wickets each.
Later in the chase, India started off on an aggressive note but lost two early wickets. Later, Jaiswal scored 51 before getting dismissed. In the end, Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant took India home with seven wickets in hand. Mehidy Hasan Miraz took two wickets for Bangladesh while Taijul Islam took one. With this win, India has swept the two-match series 2-0.
Bangladesh entered the series riding high from a historic 2-0 win in Pakistan, but they now return home deflated and demoralized. The carnage that unfolded on the field was beyond their expectations. With this weather-defying win, Rohit Sharma's India solidified their pole position in the World Test Championship (WTC) standings with an eye on a third successive Test Championship final.
India has 74.24 PCT% now. Defending champion Australia is in 2nd place with 62.50 PCT%, and the two finalists of the 2023 WTC are followed by Sri Lanka (55.56 PCT%), England (42.19 PCT%), South Africa (38.89 PCT%), and New Zealand (37.50 PCT%). After losing two back-to-back Tests against India, Bangladesh has now dropped to seventh position with 34.37 PCT%.
