Kailash Vijayvargiya's aide shot dead in Indore

Madhya Pradesh Cabinet Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kailash Vijayvargiya’s close aide, Monu Kalyane, has been shot dead in Indore.

According to sources, around 2 to 3 am, two motorcycle-borne assailants gunned down BJP youth leader Monu Kalyane near the Chiman Bagh crossing while he was putting up posters for a BJP rally. Kalyane, who served as the city vice president of BJP’s Yuva Morcha, was known for his close ties to Vijayvargiya and his son, former MLA Akash Vijayvargiya.

According to preliminary investigation, he was shot by two individuals, Piyush and Arjun, who were reportedly motivated by an old enmity. Both lived in Kalyane's neighbourhood, police said. The accused are currently absconding, and a search operation is underway.

Eyewitnesses reported that Kalyane was approached by the two men on a bike while he was putting up banners and posters for a saffron vehicle rally in the city’s Chiman Bagh area. The duo asked for his phone number, and as Kalyane took out his mobile, one of them pulled out a pistol and shot him in the chest before fleeing the scene.

Kalyane was rushed to the hospital by his friends, where he was declared dead by the doctors.

Indore ACP Vinod Dixit said, “The situation is still tense near the Chiman Bagh crossroad. We have deployed forces to keep the situation under control.” Speaking to reporters, Kailash Vijayvargiya expressed his grief at Kalyane's death and said strict action will be taken against the culprits.
