Manoj Kumar was a great admirer of Ayurveda

Bharat Ratna of Indian cinema Manoj Kumar had great faith in Ayurveda. He always encouraged me to pursue excellence and make this ancient science more accessible to the world. He believed that no boundary should restrict access to healing. Well-known Vaidya Vrindavan Sharma of Jaipur said with a heartfelt tribute to this legendary personality.

Vaidya Sharma was Manoj Kumar’s most trusted Ayurvedic physician. He recalled that Manoj ji often called upon me for consultations, and I regularly visited his Mumbai residence to provide care. “Manoj Kumar believed in Ayurveda and my knowledge with unwavering conviction, always encouraging me to pursue excellence and make this ancient science more accessible to the world,” he added.

Sharma said, Manoj Ji was much more than a patient—he was a well-wisher, a mentor, and a great supporter of my Ayurvedic mission. He took it upon himself to introduce me to legendary personalities, including Shri Salim Khan Ji and other esteemed members of the film fraternity. I still recall the evening he visited my home with Shashikala Aunty and introduced me with warmth and pride. On another occasion, I received a midnight call from him—his voice calm yet urgent. “Didi (Lata Mangeshkar ji) is unwell and needs you,” he said. Such was the depth of his faith and concern for others.

He continues, “Manoj ji was relentless in ensuring that people suffering from chronic or incurable illnesses—whether in India or abroad—were directed to my clinic in Jaipur. He believed that no boundary should restrict access to healing. He recommended me to the then Governor of Rajasthan, Shri Madan Lal Khurana Ji, and the then Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Smt. Vasundhara Raje Ji, urging them to promote the standard and reach of Ayurvedic treatment.”

“Manoj ji also entrusted me with the care of Shri Premdutt Pandey, the senior editor of Antar-Rashtriya Swasthya Patrika, leading to a permanent column for my research and editorial work in Nirog Patrika. Such was his belief—not just in me as a physician, but in Ayurveda as a national treasure,” said Vaidya Sharma.

With profound sorrow And deep restlessness, Sharma expresses, “Manoj ji memories, his voice, his trust, and his mentorship will remain alive in my heart forever. He was a giant not just in cinema but in spirit. As I reflect on our journey, I can only express my eternal gratitude to God for granting me the honor of serving and being guided by such a noble soul.” We bid farewell to a stalwart who embodied patriotism, Indian culture, and cinematic excellence. His legacy will continue to illuminate countless lives, Sharma paid homage to his ideal.
