Actor Mukul Dev died on Friday due to a brief illness. After his health worsened, he was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where he received treatment. He was 54 and is survived by his brother, Rahul Dev.
While confirming the news, Mukul’s close friend, Vindu Dara Singh, said that the actor would mostly keep himself in his last few days. Not just that, he also fell silent on Instagram. However, his last post in February will run a chill down your spine. The actor wrote about “dark forebodings" as though he had already looked into the future.
Not many know but Mukul Dev held a certificate in aeronautics from the Indira Gandhi Institute of Aviation in Raebareli. He would often fly out and explore the sky on his own, and share his experiences from the high up with fans. That was exactly what the former Fear Factor host’s last Instagram post on February 26, 2025, was all about. Up in the sky, Mukul shared a glimpse from his two-seat, single-engine, high-wing airplane. Surrounded by clouds, he watched the setting sun. “And if your head explodes with dark forebodings too…. I’ll see you on the dark side of the moon. #crosscountry," he wrote as the caption, with the karaoke version of Pink Floyd’s ‘Dark Side Of The Moon’ ringing on. Take a look:
Mukul was known for his work across Hindi and Punjabi films, television serials, and music albums. He also appeared in a few Bengali, Malayalam, Kannada, and Telugu films. For his performance in 'Yamla Pagla Deewana', he was honoured with the 7th Amrish Puri Award for excellence in acting.
Born in Delhi, the actor started his career on TV with the serial 'Mumkin' playing the role of Vijay Pandey in 1996. He also acted in Doordarshan's 'Ek Se Badh Kar Ek', a comedy Bollywood countdown show. He was part of various other films including 'Qila' (1998), 'Wajood' (1998), 'Kohram' (1999) and 'Mujhe Meri Biwi Se Bachaao' (2001), among others.
