Actor Nargis Fakhri, whose sister Aliya Fakhri has been charged with murder in connection with a deadly fire at her ex-boyfriend's house in the USA, has 'nothing to clarify' about the matter, according to a source.
A source close to the Nargis Fakhri confirmed that she has not been in touch with her sister for over 20 years. The actor learned about the incident through the news, just like everyone else.
Prosecutors claim that Aliya Fakhri, 43, deliberately set fire to a detached garage in Queens on November 23, resulting in the deaths of her ex-boyfriend, Edward Jacobs, 35, and his friend, Anastasia Ettienne, 33. As per the allegations, Fakhri resorted to arson after Jacobs rejected her efforts to rekindle their relationship.
Aliya has been charged with four counts of first-degree murder, four counts of second-degree murder, and arson. Her next court hearing is scheduled for December 9, according to the Queens District Attorney’s office.
Fakhri's mother has expressed disbelief at her daughter's involvement in the fatal fire. "I don’t think she would be killing someone," she told the New York Daily News. "She was a person caring for everybody."
Aliya Fakhri is currently detained at Rikers Island, New York City's largest jail, and has pleaded not guilty to the charges. If found guilty of the most serious offence, she would face a potential life sentence.
