It’s Ramesh Bidhuri Again: Now a personal jab at Atishi
Delhi Chief Minister Atishi broke down during a press briefing after BJP leader Ramesh Bidhuri took a personal jab at her on Sunday, saying that "she changed her father".
Delhi Chief Minister Atishi broke down during a press briefing after BJP leader Ramesh Bidhuri took a personal jab at her on Sunday, saying that "she changed her father".
Addressing Bidhuri's remarks, Atishi said, "I want to tell Ramesh Bidhuri that my father has been a teacher throughout his life. He has taught thousands of children from poor and lower-middle-class families. Today, he is 80 years old and in fragile health, he cannot even walk without help. Bidhuri has resorted to abusing an elderly man. I never thought politics in this country could fall so low."
The controversy erupted after Bidhuri, BJP's candidate from the Kalkaji Assembly constituency, accused Atishi of altering her identity for political gain. During his speech, Bidhuri alleged, "Atishi, who was Marlena, is now Singh. She has even changed her father. This reflects the character of the Aam Aadmi Party."
He also revived old accusations against Atishi's family, claiming that her parents had submitted a mercy petition to pardon Afzal Guru, the convicted terrorist behind the 2001 Parliament attack.
Former MP Ramesh Bidhuri's remarks on Atishi came after a video of his speech comparing road development to Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi's cheeks went viral on social media. He took back his words after facing severe criticism from the AAP and Congress, which threatened to file an FIR against him.
Bidhuri is known for courting controversies. Last year in Parliament, his controversial remark on SP leader Danish sparked row.
