Director Sanoj Mishra Arrested On Rape Charges

Director Sanoj Mishra had earlier grabbed headlines for offering a film to Maha Kumbh sensation Monalisa. In the latest update, he has been arrested in Delhi on rape charges, according to reports. A young woman from a small town has accused him of repeatedly exploiting her, allegedly luring her with false promises of making her a film star.

According to reports, the victim informed the police that she first connected with Sanoj Mishra in 2020 through TikTok and Instagram while living in Jhansi. Over time, they spoke frequently, and on June 17, 2021, Mishra allegedly called her, claiming he was at Jhansi railway station. When she refused to meet him, he reportedly threatened to take his own life if she didn’t come.

Fearing his threats, the victim agreed to meet him the next day. On June 18, 2021, Mishra allegedly took her to a resort, where he gave her intoxicants and assaulted her. According to her complaint, he also recorded obscene videos and threatened to leak them if she resisted.

The victim further claimed that Mishra continued to exploit her on multiple occasions, making false promises of marriage and offering her roles in films to manipulate her.

Sanoj Mishra recently made headlines for offering a film to Monalisa, the young woman who went viral during the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025. Selling Malaas at the event, Monalisa became an overnight internet sensation after her pictures and videos captured hearts across social media.

Soon after Monalisa’s viral moment, reports emerged that she had landed a film offer. A few days later, Sanoj Mishra confirmed that he was casting her in his upcoming project, The Diary of Manipur. He had also started giving her acting lessons. Sanoj was seen taking her to several events.

Mishra has helmed several films over the years, including Gandhigiri, Ram Ki Janmabhoomi, Lafange Nawab, Dharm Ke Saudagar, and Kashi To Kashmir, among others.
