UPI services disrupted across India: Fourth Outage In A Month

Unified Payment Interface (UPI) services faced major disruptions across various apps in India on Saturday, marking the fourth such technical snag within a month.

According to the outage-tracking site DownDetector, users began reporting issues with UPI transactions around 11:26 a.m. The outage peaked at around 11:40 a.m., with over 222 reports of failed digital payments.

Meanwhile, NPCI has issued an official statement about users facing transaction issues: "NPCI is currently facing intermittent technical issues, leading to partial UPI transaction declines. We are working to resolve the issue and will keep you updated. We regret the inconvenience caused."

The Unified Payments Interface (UPI) has recently faced a series of outages, causing inconvenience to users across India. The latest disruption occurred on Saturday, marking the fourth outage in the last 20 days.

Just days later, On March 26 a major outage affected users of popular UPI apps like Google Pay and Paytm, with over 3,000 complaints reported on DownDetector. Users were unable to access the service for 2-3 hours. On March 31, users again faced trouble due to payment processing issues, which NPCI said stemmed from bank-side delays during the financial year-end rush. The third brief disruption occurred on April 2 due to "latency in the UPI network".
