Zaheer Khan fan returns with another proposal after 20 years

A viral moment has resurfaced after 20 years, bringing back a fan’s unforgettable proposal to former Indian fast bowler Zaheer Khan. The fan, who had famously proposed to the retired speedster during India's third Test match against Pakistan in 2005 at Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium, returned to the spotlight recently. In the original live TV moment, the fan had held up a placard that read "Zaheer, I love you!" The heartwarming gesture hogged the limelight and became an iconic moment in Indian cricket.

This week, as Zaheer Khan, the mentor of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), joined their camp, the same fan made a return with another proposal. This time, holding a placard once again that said, “Zaheer, I love you.”

LSG posted the video with the caption, “Our love for Zak is constant.” The post quickly went viral, taking fans down the memory lane to that unforgettable TV moment. The fan’s loyalty and humour in rekindling the proposal after two decades have charmed fans and the cricketing world alike.

Last year, in August, Zaheer had replaced Gautam Gambhir as the LSG mentor. Gambhir became the mentor of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), who won the Indian Premier League (IPL) after beating Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the final last year.
