Panjab Or Punjab: Diljit Dosanjh Reacts To Spelling Controversy

Singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh faced criticism after spelling Punjab as "Panjab" in a post announcing his Chandigarh concert. Several social media users pointed out that the spelling is commonly associated with the Pakistani side of the region. Additionally, fans noticed that Diljit omitted the Indian tricolour emoji in this particular post, unlike his other concert-related tweets.

The incident quickly escalated, with some accusing the artist of harbouring political motives. In response to the backlash, Diljit today posted a detailed note on X (formerly Twitter) to clarify his stance and dismissed the allegations which he termed "conspiracy theories"

"If the tricolour is missed once while mentioning Punjab in a tweet, it's called a conspiracy. Even a tweet about Bengaluru was missed once. If Punjab is written as Panjab, it's called a conspiracy. Whether you write it as Panjab or Punjab...it will always remain Punjab (he wrote in Punjabi)," his post read.

A fan reposted the singer's post and wrote, "Why are you even bothering? Some people have no work to do but to troll !! Life mein sabko explanation dena zaruri nai hai... You are here because of your fans who are as young as two years old..!!”

To which Diljit cleared the air and said that all this doesn't bother him. "Na.. Bother Shother ni karda Mai Eh Vaar vaar Tweets kar ke Jhoothi gal nu v Sach bana dende aa Tan counter karna zaruri aa (I don't bother about these things, but repeatedly tweeting false claims makes them seem true, so it's necessary to counter them.

Won’t perform in India

The Dil-Luminati India Tour is the first time Diljit Dosanjh is performing live in India, with shows all across the country. But the actor-singer is not happy with the infrastructure provided during his shows. During his Chandigarh concert on Saturday, Diljit announced that he won't be performing live in India anymore until the infrastructure is fixed and improved. Several videos from the concert have surfaced on the internet which show Diljit making the announcement during his performance. 

Diljit is nearing the end of his Dil-Luminati India tour, with a performance scheduled in Mumbai on December 19. The tour will wrap up on December 29 with a grand concert in Guwahati.
