FIITJEE Centres Shut Down As Teachers Quit Over Unpaid Salaries

IITJEE coaching centres in North India have shut down in the past week, including locations in Noida, Ghaziabad, Bhopal, Varanasi, Delhi, and Patna. This happened after many teachers resigned due to unpaid salaries. The sudden closure has caused a lot of stress for students and parents, as they were not given any prior notice and are now unsure about refunds.

A protest took place at the FIITJEE centres in Sector 62, Noida. Parents gathered outside the centers and said that it shut down without warning, accusing the management of taking the full fees without offering any refunds.

They said that the operational head at the Sector 62 centers, Sanjeev Jha, sent a message late Tuesday evening saying the centres would be closed. On Wednesday, they filed a complaint at the Sector 58 police station. “This is unfair. We paid all the fees, and now the center is closed with no warning or refund. We need answers," said one of the parents.

The recent closure of several FIITJEE coaching centresin North India followed the resignation of the academic staff due to unpaid salaries, leaving families uncertain about their children’s education and the fate of their fees.

Founded in 1992 by IIT Delhi graduate DK Goel, FIITJEE is a well-established name in coaching for JEE and NEET entrance exams. The institute has 72 centers across 41 cities and employs over 300 staff members. FIITJEE’s management has yet to issue any official statement regarding the closure or explain how they intend to address the issue of fee refunds and resolve the ongoing concerns.

FIITJEE is no stranger to controversy. In December last year, a viral video featuring FIITJEE’s chairman DK Goel verbally abusing employees during an official online meeting sparked widespread outrage on social media. The incident unfolded when an employee from the Thane branch raised a question about the company’s recent investments in the Edtech sector. Goel’s response was one of intense and unprovoked anger.

Despite the staff member pointing out that the information was publicly available, Goel’s anger escalated. His remarks not only criticized the employee’s competence but also included personal attacks on the worker’s mother.
