Firing at Kapil Sharma's cafe over invite to Salman: Bishnoi gang

An audio recording by a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang has surfaced in which he said that comedian Kapil Sharma's restaurant in Canada was targeted over his invite to actor Salman Khan for the inauguration of the show.

The audio clip, exclusively accessed by India Today, was recorded by Bishnoi group gangster Harry Boxer, who warns that any director, producer, or artist working with Salman will be shot in the chest. "The first and now second firing at Kapil Sharma's restaurant happened because he had invited Salman Khan to the inauguration of a Netflix show," the gangster says.

Salman Khan appeared in the first episode of season 3 of 'The Great Indian Kapil Show', which premiered on Netflix on June 21. The actor has been in the crosshairs of Lawrence Bishnoi, who is in jail, over his involvement in the 1998 killing of a black buck, which is revered by the Bishnoi community.

The gangster further says that anyone working with Salman, whether a small-time actor or a small-time director, would be responsible for their own death. We will not spare anyone. We will kill them. We will go to any extent necessary to kill them.

On Thursday, Kapil Sharma's Kap's Cafe in Surrey came under gunfire for the second time in less than a month. At least 25 shots were fired, shattering windows. However, no one was injured in the incident. Goldy Dhillon, a Bishnoi gang member who is wanted by the Punjab Police and the NIA, claimed responsibility for the firing in a social media post.

The restaurant was also targeted on July 10, for which Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) operative Harjit Singh Laddi, one of India's most wanted fugitives, had claimed responsibility. He cited alleged derogatory remarks made by Sharma about Nihang Sikhs for the attack.

Film Body Condemned Attack

Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has strongly condemned the daylight attack on comedian Kapil Sharma’s restaurant, Kap’s Cafe, in Canada. The film body urged Home Minister Amit Shah to intervene urgently. The association warned that such incidents signal the return of a dark chapter reminiscent of the 1990s, when Bollywood was plagued by underworld threats and extortion.
