High Court steps in to protect Aishwarya Rai’s personality rights
Aishwarya Rai complained of her images being morphed and misused online. The Delhi High Court aid it will pass injunction orders to protect actor's personality rights.

The Delhi High Court on Tuesday said it will pass injunction orders to protect actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s personality rights after she complained of her images being morphed and misused online.
Senior Advocate Sandeep Sethi, representing Aishwarya Rai, told the court her likeness was being exploited without consent by multiple entities on the Internet, which is an infringement of her personality rights. "I am enforcing my publicity and personality rights," Sethi said, adding that the actor's face was being plastered on coffee mugs, merchandise, and even fake pornographic images.
Showing screenshots from YouTube, Sethi submitted, "These are never images belonging to Aishwarya Rai. Neither has she authorised such images. All AI-generated. Some intimate photographs that are completely unreal. Her name and likeness are used to satisfy someone’s sexual desires. Very unfortunate."
Google’s counsel referred to a past case involving the film 'Andaz Apna Apna' where links were shared and then taken down.
The court, however, stated, "There are only 151 URLs which will form part of the order as far as you are concerned. You take down." Justice Tejas Karia said the takedown order for the flagged links would be uploaded by Tuesday evening, with separate injunctions issued against each defendant.
"We will pass orders against each of the defendants because prayers are broad. But we will grant the injunction separately," the judge remarked during the hearing. The matter will be heard next on January 15, 2026.
