‘Follow Rules’: ICC responds to no ‘Pakistan’ on Team India jersey

Amidst reports claiming that the BCCI is unwilling to have ‘Pakistan’ printed on the Indian team’s jerseys for the upcoming Champions Trophy, ICC has reportedly said all the participants have to comply with the rules.

All teams have to display the tournament’s official logo including the hosts name on their kits failing which ICC will take stern action. “It is the responsibility of every team to add the tournament logo to their jerseys. All teams are obligated to comply with this rule," ARY Sports quoted an ICC source as saying.

As per the ICC norms, teams are supposed to have the name of the hosts written on the jerseys irrespective of the fact where the matches are being held.

Media reports suggested that the BCCI isn't keen to have 'Pakistan' written on the team kit as part of the 'host nation regulation', suggesting that the Indian team will be playing its Champions Trophy matches in Dubai.

The last few months have been quite tensed between the BCCI and the PCB, especially after the Indian board refused to send its team to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy. In the end, a compromise was reached over the matter, though the BCCI might also have to pay a huge fee for it in the near future when India will host a couple of ICC events.

Rohit won’t go to Pak

The BCCI is also firm in its decision to not send captain Rohit Sharma to Pakistan for the captains’ press conference and photo shoot. As per media reports the Indian board has barred captain Rohit Sharma from travelling to Pakistan for two curtain-raiser events - the captains' press conference and the customary photoshoot. The BCCI has asked ICC to shift both pre-tournament events to Dubai so that skipper Rohit can be physically present to participate in the events. The move from the BCCI has understandably left the Pakistan board infuriated.
