Infosys has terminated another 30 to 45 trainees from its Mysuru campus after they failed to pass internal assessments, reported Moneycontrol.
However, this time, the company offered the trainees alternative career options. This includes 12 weeks of training for potential roles in Infosys Business Process Management (BPM). It also offers a one-month ex-gratia payment along with a relieving letter to all the affected trainees. The report also added that Infosys will sponsor the training for those who do not opt for the BPM course.
The development comes just a couple of months after it had terminated hundreds of trainees from the same campus. Infosys sent out emails to the trainees who failed to clear the internal assessment, informing them that they failed to meet the qualifying criteria in the "Foundation skills training program.
Infosys has not yet issued an official statement on the development. The report noted that Infosys will also arrange transport from Mysuru to Bengaluru for trainees who do not want to opt for BPM. The company will also provide a standard travel allowance. Furthermore, the trainees can also avail of accommodation at the Employee Care Centre in Mysuru until their departure date.
For this, the company has asked the affected trainees to submit their travel and accommodation preferences by March 27. Infosys seems to have made the elaborate arrangements after the earlier batch of terminated employees accused it of forcefully terminating them.
However, the Karnataka Labour Department has cleared Infosys of any labour law violations related to the exit of trainees. This was based on documentary evidence, added the report.
