The first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at Perth’s Optus Stadium continues to unfold with contrasting narratives, as India wrestled control on Day 2 after a chaotic opening day. After a fantic first day that saw 17 wickets tumble, Day 2 showcased a different rhythm as Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul produced a gritty, old-school batting display to grind down Australia.
India ended Day 2 firmly on top, not losing a single wicket in the final two sessions. Yashasvi Jaiswal stayed unbeaten on 90, bringing up his first century on Australian soil. KL Rahul was impressive too, notching up his own fifty (62*). The duo extended India's lead to 218 runs at the end of Day 2, with all 10 wickets still in hand.
Earlier, Jasprit Bumrah completed a five-wicket haul, and Harshit Rana took three, as India bundled out Australia for 104. This helped India take a 46-run lead after the first innings, despite managing only 150 themselves earlier on.
