Legendary Singer Pankaj Udhas Dies At 72

Veteran singer Pankaj Udhas died at the age of 72. His team confirmed that he died on the morning today. "Pankaj Sir was suffering from prolonged illness and wasn't keeping well for the last few days. He died this morning around 11 am at Breach Candy hospital," his team told.

His daughter, Nayaab Udhas, posted a statement. "With a very heavy heart, we are saddened to inform you of the sad demise of Padmashri Pankaj Udhas on 26th February 2024 due to a prolonged illness. Udhas family (sic)", it read.

Mr Udhas, who was a renowned singer, has crooned several songs such as Chitthi Aayee Hai and Jiye toh jiye kaise. His latest single Khwaabon ki Kahaani was launched on a music website, with the hope of reaching out to a larger audience and as an attempt to revive ghazals.

Born on May 17, 1951, in Gujarat, Pankaj Udhas began his musical journey at a young age and rose to prominence in the 1980s and 1990s. With his contributions to the world of music and his humanitarian efforts, Pankaj Udhas has left an indelible mark on Indian culture and continues to inspire audiences with his timeless melodies and meaningful lyrics.
