A complaint has been filed against an unidentified individual for reportedly threatening to blow up the US Consulate General Office in Mumbai by mail. The sender of a letter to the consulate's official email address claimed to be a wanted person facing numerous felonies in the United States. The accused threatened to "blow up every US consulate in India" until US President Joe Biden personally "apologised" to him and dropped all 19 felony charges against him. In case his demands were not fulfilled, he also threatened to begin the murder of American citizens in India.
Following receipt of the menacing correspondence, the BKC police station in Mumbai has opened a case against an unidentified individual under sections 506(2) and 505(1)(b) of the IPC (making a statement with the intention of causing fear or alarm to the public, whereby any person may be induced to commit an offence against the State or the public tranquillity), and an investigation is currently in progress.
