Vinesh Phogat joins farmers' stir at Shambhu border

Wrestler Vinesh Phogat showed her unwavering support for the farmers' protest as she joined them at the Shambhu border, saying, "Your daughter is with you". Farmers at the Shambhu border marked the 200th day of their ongoing protest on Saturday with a large gathering. 

Phogat a supporter of the farmers' movement, was honoured with garlands by the farmers.

In her speech Vinesh Phogat expressed admiration for the farmers, acknowledging that they have been sitting there for a long time, fighting for their rights, but their energy and determination have not diminished. She shared her pride in being born into a farmer's family and assured the protesters that she stands with them as their daughter.

Vinesh urged the government to fulfill their demands. She voiced her disappointment that the farmers have not been heard for such a long time, emphasising that their determination has inspired others to continue fighting for their rights. She reiterated that her primary focus is on supporting the farmers in their fight for justice.

Farmers have been stationed at the Shambhu border since February 13, after authorities prevented their march to Delhi. The protesters are demanding a legal guarantee for the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for all crops, among other key issues.

Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher stated that the protest is being conducted peacefully but with great intensity. He mentioned that the Centre is testing its resolve, and their demands have not yet been met. "We will present our demands to the government once again, and new announcements will also be made," he said.

The farmers have called for strict action against Bollywood actress and Member of Parliament (MP) Kangana Ranaut. They have urged the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to take a firm stand against Ranaut, whose remarks have previously sparked controversy and opposition among the farming community.
