Bollywood screenwriter and lyricist Javed Akhtar schooled two trolls who made a communal remark about his post appreciating cricketer Virat Kohli. Akhtar, known for his bold responses to trolls on social media, made a note on X regarding India's win against Pakistan during a Champions Trophy match. However, an X user tried to mock him in the comments.
While, in Dubai Pakistan batter and keeper Mohammad Rizwan began the press conference with his admiration for Virat Kohli, leaving the journalists in awe.
The 80-year-old Javed Akhtar wrote, "Virat Kohli , zindabad. !!! . We all are so so so proud of you (sic)!", and then replied to the user in Hindi in the comments section: "Maen to sirf yeh kahoonga ke tum eik neech insaan ho aur neech hi marogay. Tum kya jano desh prem kya hota hai (I would only like to say that you are a vile person, and you will die a vile person. How would you know what patriotism is) (sic)!"
He went on to respond to another troll who wrote, "Aaj suraj kaha se nikla. Andar se dukh hoga apko to (Where did the Sunrise from? You would be disappointed from the inside, no?)".
This didn't go well with Akhtar, who wrote back: "Beta jab tumhare baap dada angrez ke jootay chaat rahe thay tab mere (Purkhe) aazadi ke liye jai aur kala paani mein thay. Meri ragon mein desh premion ka khoon hai aur tumhari ragon mein angrez ke naukaron ka khoon hai. Iss anter ko bhoolo nahin (Son, when your ancestors were licking the boots of the Britishers, mine were fighting them nail and tooth. I have the blood of freedom fighters running through my veins. And you have the blood of the British servants running in yours. Never forget this difference), (sic)."
Akhtar, who identifies himself as an atheist, is often subjected to trolling for his understanding of faith and politics.
Meanwhile, India won the match against Pakistan by six wickets, with Virat Kohli hitting a century and reaching 14,000 runs in one-day international cricket. This was Kohli's first century in the ICC Champions Trophy, and a celebration of his return to form.
Rizwan praises Virat, stums all
Rizwan, who attended the press conference after Pakistan's defeat, wasn't just fascinated with Virat's effortless chase masterclass; but also the fitness level the India star has managed to maintain despite being 36 years old. As questions were fired at Rizwan by the media personnel, he decided to put everything at a halt and first hail Virat, the man who once again proved why he is considered among the finest the game has ever seen.
