Olympics 2024 Archery: India women's team reaches quarters

A positive start to India's Olympics journey as the women's archery team sealed a top four spot in the team event, thereby directly qualifying for the quarter-finals. The trio of Ankita Bhakat, Bhajan Kaur and Deepika Kumari finished 4th in the ranking round event on July 25, Thursday. Ankita finished 11th, Bhajan and Deepika finished 22nd and 23rd respectively. Team India scored 1983 points with 21 bullseyes and 83 10's on the day. Korea finished top of the standings with 2046 points with China and Mexico ending in the 2nd and 3rd spots with 1996 and 1986 points respectively.

India's Olympics 2024 campaign got underway with archery, as the individual ranking rounds began one day before the opening ceremony of the Paris Games.

If India win their quarter-final in women's team, they are likely to face defending champions South Korea, who finished first in the team's seeding. South Korea have won 27 archery gold medals in Olympics history, 13 more than any other nation. The final rounds of the archery competitions at the Paris Olympics will be held from July 28 to August 4.
