’Many good deeds left for me to achieve’—Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the Kalki Dham Temple in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal district on Monday. In an address to a gathering attended by religious leaders and seers, he said that there were "many good deeds that many have left for me to achieve".

He was invited to the event by Acharya Pramod Krishnam, who was expelled from the Congress for a period of six years for his anti-party remarks.

The Kalki Dham temple is being constructed by the Shri Kalki Dham Nirman Trust, whose chairman is Krishnam. At the gathering which was also attended by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Prime Minister said "this event has been possible after 18 years of waiting".

"I would like to say that there are many good deeds that many have left for me to achieve. With the blessing of all saints and citizens, all of them that have been left will be achieved in the future as well," he said.

Modi also said that this was possible due to "the devotion of saints and the spirit of the public". Before the Prime Minister's address, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister took to the stage and said, "In the last 10 years, we have seen a new Bharat... The country is moving ahead on the path of development in the new Bharat."

On his part, Krishnam said, "thousands of saints have gathered here from every corner of the country to fulfil the dream of 'Sanatana Dharma' that was seen 18 years ago"
