Rae Bareli will now have a new MP thanks to her Rajya Sabha debut, albeit it is unclear if Priyanka Gandhi Vadra would run for office from this seat. According to sources, Sonia picked Rajasthan over Himachal Pradesh to convey to the party's supporters that it is not giving up on north India. Furthermore, sources claimed that even though the BJP was in power, Rajasthan was a safer seat than Himachal. The party has not yet formally announced its candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections, but according to reports, Akhilesh Prasad Singh, the head of the Bihar Congress, Syed Nasir Hussain, and Abhishek Manu Singhvi have all had their names vetted. Of the 56 Rajya Sabha seats, ten can be won by the Congress.
