EPCH highlights its ambition of ‘Teen Guna Tees Tak’ through strength, scale and potential of sector exemplified in the fair

Greater Noida – 7th February 2024 - The 57th edition of IHGF-DELHI FAIR – SPRING 2024 being held from 6th to 10th February 2024 at India Expo Centre & Mart, Greater Noida Expressway, had a busy second day as buyers from several nations visited for business networking. They have appreciated the new ranges and orders are being placed.

 

Shri K.K. Bishnoi, Hon'ble State Minister of Industry and Commerce Department, Youth Affairs and Sports Department, Skills, Planning and Entrepreneurship Department, Policy Making Department, Govt. of Rajasthan visited the fair today and commended the organisers as well as exhibitors. He said, “the beautiful composition with plenty of variety, both heritage backed and contemporary, exemplifies the huge treasure that this industry prides in. I appreciate EPCH's role in providing the platform of IHGF Delhi Fair, to such large number of exhibitors, especially small and medium entities, who with their hard work, creativity and enterprises have been able to add to exports of handicrafts from the remotest regions of India.”

 

Mr. Dileep Baid, Chairman, EPCH, shared about EPCH’s ambitious target of achieving 3 times the handicrafts exports from the present level by 2030 i.e. ‘Teen Guna Tees Tak’. “In this direction, EPCH is adopting multi-pronged strategies which include focus on emerging trends and design intervention in product development, packaging innovation, brand building, enhanced productivity, strengthening existing and targeting new markets, quality and standard, sustainable development, compliances, introduction of new raw material and many more. These initiatives are spectacularly highlighted at the fair,” he said.

Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Chairman, IEML, said, “people are most important for any industry and so is manpower. While the handicrafts industry has its share of artisans and crafts persons, personnel with the right training and fundamental knowledge play a crucial role in its functioning. In this direction, the Centre for Handicrafts Exports Management Studies, popularly known as CHEMS was launched by EPCH in 2019. The courses offer placement assistance and the modules include education in the exports business fundamentals, documentation and industry exposure. 34 batches including 588 students have graduated, out of which 150 are already exporters and member exporters with EPCH. Many of them are showcasing there products at the fair”

Dr. Neeraj Khanna, Vice Chairman II, EPCH, shared “exhibitor stalls, spanning fourteen diverse product sectors and stocked with collections in home, fashion, lifestyle, furnishing and furniture for upcoming seasons, appear vibrant with a variety of colours, textures, shapes, and an abundance of merchandise – all set to be transported to showrooms worldwide. Many buyers new and regular are seen engaging with our exhibitors”.

Mrs Priya Agarwal, Fair President, IHGF Delhi Fair–Spring 2024 added, “today our seminars have started and today attendees have gained insights into topics of ‘Emerging Horizons: Navigating Future Trends’ and ‘Driving Growth with Productivity and Capital Efficiency’. Many more are planned during the show.”

Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts is a nodal agency for promotion of exports of handicrafts from the Country and create brand image of magic of the gifted hands of millions of artisans and crafts persons engaged in production of home, lifestyle, textiles, furniture and fashion jewellery & accessories products in different craft clusters of the Country. The overall Handicrafts exports during the year 2022-23 was Rs. 30,019.24 Crores (US $ 3,728.47 Million), as informed by Mr. R. K. Verma, Executive Director, EPCH.
