Justice Gangopadhyay formally joined BJP

As announced two days back, Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay has formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today. Following his joining, former judge of the Calcutta High Court Mr. Gangopadhyay expressed his happiness and stated that corruption needs to be fought. 

Gangopadhyay also expressed his views on the Sandeshkhali incident, calling it a terrible situation. He further mentioned that the state leaders had gone there but were prevented from reaching the location. Despite the obstacles, they managed to stand beside the women there, and the BJP is taking up the cause of oppressed people in Sandeskhali.

Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay was formally inducted into the party in Kolkata, in the presence of state party chief Sukanta Majumdar, Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari and others.

Sukanta Majumdar welcomed former Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay to the party and the family of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Majumdar praised Gangopadhyay's previous work as a Justice for the deprived and exploited victims of Bengal and expressed confidence that he would continue this important work under the leadership of the BJP.

Abhijit Gangopadhyay, who resigned asJudge of the Calcutta High Court on tuesday, announced that he would be joining the BJP.

It has been rumored that Mr. Gangopadhyay is planning to run in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from Bengal's Tamluk constituency on  BJP ticket. The Tamluk seat has been a stronghold of the ruling Trinamool Congress in recent elections, with the party having held it since the 2009 election.
