Rajya Sabha Election 2024 - BJP wins Rajyasabha in Himachal

The BJP's Harsh Mahajan defeated Abhishek Manu Singhvi of the Congress to win in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. According to reports, three Independent MLAs and six Congress MLAs crossed votes in favor of the BJP during the elections. Given that the party is in the majority in the hill state, this is a serious setback for the Congress administration there. Following the Rajya Sabha elections, the BJP has stated that the Congress is now a minority in the assembly. CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, meanwhile, said that the BJP had picked up five or six Congress MLAs.

The Samajwadi Party (SP) won two of the ten Rajya Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh, leaving the BJP with eight victories. The SP had predicted a win on three seats, hence this is also considered as a significant victory for the BJP ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. The loss of one of the three seats suggests that the BJP is receiving cross-party votes.

Leaders and supporters of the Uttar Pradesh BJP rejoice in Lucknow after the party secured eight of the ten Rajya Sabha seats in the state. Two seats were won by the Samajwadi Party (SP). The party of Akhilesh Yadav had expected to win three seats.

"What kind of democracy is it if the (Central) government overthrows an elected government? It has previously occurred in Goa, Manipur, and Karnataka. In the event that they are not elected, they take action, threaten them, and overthrow the government. Is democracy in place here?" Kharge questioned during a TV9 Network meeting.

"I don't understand why they are acting in this manner. The president of Congress declared, "If they carry on in this manner, they will destroy democracy, throw aside the Constitution, and end democracy." He added that the situation in the nation could not go on in this manner.

On the other side, Amit Shah on the News9 Global Summit said:

"We dont think about the result, instead we focus on work. We don't involve politics with work."

"Whatever raids ED have maid, only 5 % seizure are on political party people. People are spreading rumors to get political gain. whereas 95% of political raids are for black money."

When asked on 370, Amit shah said "stone pelting stopped, terrirism sotpped. sutdents are going to school, after 30 years moharram was celebrated."
